Student News

Every year in 3rd grade, making and reading Stone Soup is a tradition! The story is about a village working together to make a soup. There are many different versions of the Stone Soup. This year our class read stories from Sweden, France, China, the USA, and more. We learned that the theme of all of the stories is pretty much the same. The theme is that sharing with others makes your heart grow and can make you happy. One small act of kindness can make a big difference. We also read some of these stories with Mrs. Duffner’s 2nd graders. Now about our banquet. Both Mrs. Mueller’s and Mrs. Avant’s classes made REAL stone soup. Each student had to bring in one ingredient to share.  The ingredients were carrots, potatoes, peppers, and last but not least the noodles (which is what I brought in!)  There were more ingredients but that’s just a little information on it. We put everything in the crockpot and let it cook all day. After PE, we came into our room and saw that Ms. Mueller and Ms. Avant set up a banquet. If you want to see a little glimpse of our special day, then go watch our video on the website at: https://www.sahs.k12.il.us/page/videos
